People who wish to join the app revolution and benefit from any of the thousands of tools available for Apple iPhone owners could be wise to sell their mobile.
The New York Times' Gadgetwise blog has compiled a list of the top tools at the disposal of those with one of the revolutionary devices.
It nominates apps such as Evernote, which allows people to synchronise documents between work and home, as well as sports results service Yahoo! Sportscular as being among the best on the market.
Others include recipe and meal planner Epicurious, services finder Yelp and text and email service Dragon Dictation.
All of the apps listed by the publication are available to download free of charge, as it noted many people are not prepared to splash out a small fee for features with a price tag.
The most recent version of the Apple handset is the iPhone 4, which was released in the UK, US, France, Germany and Japan in June.
