Mobile users can keep track of where Santa is this Christmas

Festive Britons who recycle a mobile phone this month and switch to a smartphone as its replacement could be in a great position to track Santa via Google Maps.

Bruno Bowden, software engineer and author of the latest Google Mobile Blog, explains the search engine will once again be displaying Father Christmas's whereabouts on December 24th as he crosses the globe delivering gifts.

Via the website www.noradsanta.org, people will be able to track exactly where the seasonal character is, potentially keeping youngsters enchanted for hours.

However, the only way to do this via a mobile phone will be to have one of the latest models with good web browsing capabilities.

Mr Bowden notes there is currently a countdown available on the portal, as well as a host of Christmas-themed games.

Another feature for smartphone users to look out for this year is the festive edition of Angry Birds, expected to be available soon.
