Orange to offer Touch Watch mobile phone

17 February 2009 — 5:15 PM

Orange has taken the wraps off its latest contribution to the world of mobile phone technology and is to offer consumers a wearable watch-like device.

The Touch Watch phone, manufactured by LG Electronics, will be available to customers throughout Europe later in 2009.

It is described as a "compact and stylish" wrist watch mobile phone that comes equipped with a full touchscreen and Bluetooth compatibility. It also enables video calls, 3G HSDPA and a built-in mp3 player.

"This phone really manages to combine form with functionality and its chic styling and mobile broadband connectivity will no doubt appeal to all the early adopters out there," remarked senior vice-president of devices at Orange, Yves Maitre.

Those thinking about recycling their handset and getting some cash for a used mobile phone might want to save their pennies for the Touch Watch.

Other models on the current market and manufactured by LG Electronics include the Viewty and the Shine.
