Yahoo! has announced the launch of a new application for the latest phones from Apple and other manufacturers.
Users will now be able to head to the App Store or the internet company's own site to download the new widget, which provides access to a range of web-based services.
Yahoo! Mobile for the Web, which was originally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February, is compatible with over 300 HTML-enabled handsets and provides search, social networking and news facilities.
David Ko, senior vice president at the group's mobile division, said the offering meets a consumer demand for "compelling mobile internet services that offer increased personalisation".
In other news, Nokia announced it would add its email and messaging system to the 5800 XpressMusic this week - which could inspire those recycling mobile phones to consider the handset.
