The Magic follows the Android-powered G1

The latest phone to be powered by Google Android goes on sale next month and consumers can pre-order it now, it has emerged.

It was announced this week by Vodafone that visitors to its website or retail outlets can make sure they are one of the first in line to get the HTC Magic when it hits the shelves on May 5th.

Tariffs include a free handset with two-year contracts at £35 per month, for which people can expect unlimited mobile internet and text messaging, as well as 600 free minutes.

Equipped with a 2GB memory card in addition to its 500MB internal memory, the HTC Magic has a touchscreen, full qwerty keyboard, 3G connectivity and a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording.

Although the device is new to the network, it is in fact the second HTC-built mobile to arrive in the UK. The T Mobile G1 was put together by the manufacturer and is available in some territories as the HTC Dream.
