Recycling 'the best way to save cash and the planet'
22 April 2009 — 10:07 AM
Saving money and the Earth can go hand in hand if people are prepared to recycle, according to one journalist.
In a recent article posted on the Middletown Journal website, Jill Kelley says there are some important things to bear in mind for those who want to cut costs and carbon emissions.
She notes 50 different ways to do this, but waits until the last moment to reveal what she believes is "the mother of all nature-savers" - recycling.
In addition, Ms Kelley suggests avoiding buying bottled water - as this can create unnecessary waste - as well as line drying clothes, switching off items when not in use and replacing old items with newer, more efficient ones.
The comments could inspire some to recycle used mobile phones, the proceeds from which could be used to buy a greener model - such as Motorola's MOTO W233 Renew, which is made from reused plastic bottles.
