Nokia Conversations has commented on the recent announcement that the Finnish firm was able to top this year's Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
The site, which looks at news and developments relating to the company, said the reasons behind the accolade were many and had been documented by themselves for some time.
Among these are some lesser-known projects and initiative that it explained the organisation regularly takes part in, which many people might otherwise be unaware of.
"In December 2008 we ran a piece on Nokia's approach to packaging and ethical consumption, which highlighted some amazing figures," the article added.
The launch of the Green Explorer web portal - part of a joint effort with Lonely Planet and the WWF - was also highlighted, as were areas relating to energy-saving chargers and the resourcing of materials.
Nokia was also named as World Technology Supersector Leader as part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which was unveiled earlier this week.
