O2 has announced the launch date for a new smartphone that may be of interest to those recycling mobile phones.
Following much speculation, the operator has confirmed the Palm Pre will be available to people across the UK on a network-exclusive basis from October 16th.
Available from retailers including the Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U, as well as O2's high street and online facilities, the Pre announcement means those recycling mobile phones should have enough time to get their funds in order.
Ronan Dunne, chief executive officer of the network's parent company Telefonica O2, explained the launch of the Palm Pre would cement the firm's name as the "home of the smartphone".
"With the addition of the excellent Palm Pre to our already extensive portfolio, we will continue to offer our customers the widest range of the very best devices on the market today," he added.
Other network exclusive smartphones the carrier has among its range include the Apple iPhone 3G S.
