Skype option sees 3 Mobile pick up award

An accolade has been bestowed upon 3 Mobile which may interest consumers recycling mobile phones as a way to save cash.
The network was singled out for praise at the 2009 What Mobile Awards, taking the title of Best Mobile Service for its Skype on 3 facility - which allows a host of low-cost calling options.
Earlier this year, the carrier announced it would extend the offering to more of its pay monthly and pay-as-you-go packages.
With unlimited Skype-to-Skype calling and a number of low-rate mobile and landline options, the announcement may tempt those recycling used phones for budgetary reasons.
Charlotte Blanchard, director of products and services at 3, said: "By making the software available on almost all handsets and removing all cost barriers to usage, we're giving consumers the compelling option of free calls."
Skype is also available as a downloadable application for the Apple iPhone 3G S and BlackBerry range of Smartphones.
