A list of the "best" mobile phones in the world at present could encourage consumers to get money for their mobile in order to upgrade to a new handset.
The top five list - from website cnet - includes some of the latest releases in mobile phone technology including Google's Nexus One which the company is hoping will take the Android operating system to the next level.
Also included in the list is the Apple iPhone 3GS, a handset that most new smartphones are compared against. The popularity of the App Store and its choice of thousands of apps to download may tempt some consumers to choose the product when the time comes to change their used phone.
The "lightning fast" Motorola Droid also makes the list and is described as "a real competitor to Apple's device".
BlackBerry's Bold 9700 handset could also be an upgrade option due to its appeal to "consumers and mobile professionals alike".
The selection is rounded off with the Samsung Instinct HD with a sleeker design than its predecessor.
