Sell old mobile to take advantage of smartphone technology

Consumers could use the provision of more information online as a reason to sell an old mobile phone and put money towards a new smartphone.

Search engine Google is now offering details on the vast range of apps that are available and where they can be downloaded from, it reports via its Mobile Blog.

Users must only go to the site and click on the relevant link at the top of the page, giving them access to specifications and reviews.

The function also notes the current top-rated apps as well as all-time favourites, which could be useful for first-time owners of a smartphone.

Devices that may be under consideration for those with a desire to join the smartphone revolution include Apple's iPhone, Google's Nexus One and handsets by BlackBerry.

Earlier this week, Google announced the launch of an updated version of its instant messaging service, Buzz, that works with smartphones.
