Selling a mobile for cash may fund reviewed data roaming charges

Selling a used phone for cash may be just one part of a positive financial outlook for mobile consumers this summer.

In addition to funds handed over by Envirofone in exchange for an old handset, people will enjoy a relaxation of the rules relating to data roaming charges in Europe.

This week's ruling by the European Court of Justice to cut rates for those who use online services abroad comes just in time for the summer holiday season.

From July 1st, some operators will be forced to cut their charges by up to 70 per cent.

According to uSwitch.com, this will benefit many of the 22 million mobile phone users who will take their device abroad over the summer.

However, travellers should remember the legislation only applies when travelling within the European Union (EU).

The EU is made up of 27 countries, including popular holiday destinations Spain, Greece and Italy.
