Most people 'do not realise mobile phone recycling is an option'
24 June 2010 — 7:08 PM
People in one part of south London have been offered access to expert advice on recycling their old mobile phones.
Wandsworth Borough Council is marking Recycle Week by making its environmental experts available to answer questions from the public.
Some residents may use the opportunity to explore the advantages of recycling a mobile phone, which range from environmental benefits to the raising of extra cash when disposed of through a company such as Envirofone.
According to the council, the majority of people are still not aware items such as mobiles and other electrical appliances can be reused.
Those who choose to recycle their mobile phone may be in a sound financial position when it comes to splashing out on a replacement.
One model that many could be currently eyeing is the Apple iPhone 4, released in the UK today (June 24th), or the iPad that has already recorded sales of three million in just 80 days on the market.
