New BlackBerry comes to PAYG
30 January 2009 — 3:00 PM
Those who have recycled mobile phones to raise the cash for a new phone could now get their hands on a BlackBerry.
Orange has announced that it will launch a new pay-as-you-go (PAYG) tariff whereby its customers can get access to email, social networking and messaging through the BlackBerry Pearl 8120.
With an estimated price tag of £145, buyers can expect the exclusive indigo handset to offer them a range of other features including a two-megapixel camera, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Commenting on the launch, Orange's director of PAYG services Pippa Dunn said there was a great demand for the latest phones without monthly contracts.
"We are really pleased to be bringing one of the most popular email and multimedia devices to the masses as the first operator to offer BlackBerry on [PAYG] in the UK."
Other BlackBerry handsets include the touchscreen Storm - which is exclusive on the latest contracts from Vodafone.
