Mobile recyclers offered BlackBerry alternative
24 September 2010 — 7:03 PM
People who recycle their old mobile phone for cash have been told of a snazzy device that is similar to a BlackBerry.
In an article for CNET UK, Joe Minihane notes the Acer beTouch E130 handset is a "rare beast", as it is an Android phone with a full qwerty keyboard.
Its sharp design, stylish appearance and inclusion of the larger keypad marks it out as a "unique take" on the popular operating system.
Perhaps its only weakness is a below-par camera, but if this is not a priority then users may find themselves with an affordable smartphone that ticks all the right boxes.
"The Acer bBeTouch E130 could be a real BlackBerry destroyer ... but if it wants to be a proper workhorse, Acer must update the Android software immediately," Mr Minihane concludes.
Acer has recently launched an updated version of its Liquid E model in Ferrari trim as a tribute to the Italian car firm.
