The famous voices of Star Wars are now available to iPhone users for their sat nav

People who recycle their mobile phones in the future could choose a replacement that allows them to be directed by the voices of characters from Star Wars.

However, to do so they will have to replace their old handset with an Apple iPhone, as the revolutionary device's TomTom system has just been revamped with the distinctive tones.

It is the latest effort by the satellite navigation manufacturer to compete with the free services that are now on the market.

TomTom for iPhone v1.5 will offer users the chance to be told to turn right, left or around by the likes of Yoda and Han Solo.

It also means mobile consumers who use their model for directions in the car or by foot can be given a helping hand by the legendary Darth Vader.

The Nokia Conversations blog recently named Ovi Maps as the favourite feature offered by the brand among its customers, perhaps highlighting the popularity of navigation services.
