Green phone backed by T Mobile
6 February 2009 — 5:30 PM
T Mobile has announced its support for a new device that claims to be one of the greenest models around.
It has been confirmed the network will offer its customers in the US access to the MOTO W233 Renew - and adds the eco-conscious phone would be ideal for those to whom environmental issues are important.
The W233 Renew is made from recycled water bottles and is fully sustainable. Motorola, the company that makes the device, also has a partnership with Carbonfund.org to offset the CO2 associated with its production.
"Motorola offsets the carbon dioxide required to manufacture, distribute and operate the phone through investments in renewable energy sources and reforestation, making it the first carbon-neutral mobile phone," T Mobile said.
All the above may make the MOTO W233 Renew an essential purchase for those looking to recycle mobile phones.
Despite its basic, entry-level nature, the phone is equipped with an mp3 player and support for up to 2GB of memory.
