« Back to reviews BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900

Look and feel

The Bold is a BlackBerry on a diet – it’s slim at only 10.5mm, yet retains a truly comfortable typing experience and elegant looks. It has the latest BlackBerry 7 OS and a really efficient 2.8inch touchscreen

Ease of use

The combination of touchscreen and keyboard is efficient, and you can keep everything organised using the five panels.

Features

A wealth of goodies, from a fast full HTML browser and speedy 1.2GHz chip to the most up-to-date high-res liquid graphics display. And, of course, BlackBerry’s famous email offering. There’s also great Facebook recognition and the possibility for contactless payments using NFC.

Performance

Browsing the web is a joy – it’s fast and smooth. And you can keep in touch using the universal inbox that brings texts, email, Facebook messages and events together. You’ll get a desktop experience from the Facebook and your apps will integrate automatically with BlackBerry Messenger.

Battery life

Not bad – running the likes of Wi-Fi, HSDPA and GPS, the Touch 9900 will run for more than a day on a full battery.

Pros:
Efficient universal inbox; fastest browser on a smartphone; really user friendly; keyboard and touchscreen combination is efficient.
Cons:
Average camera; App World disappoints.

Final verdict: 4 Stars

An impressive phone that does the usual BlackBerry email and messaging tasks well, and makes a decent stab at the web and social networking experience too.
