BlackBerry Torch 9800 4 Stars« Back to reviews
Look and feel
The Blackberry Torch is pretty weighty, and gets bigger by about a third once the keyboard slides open.
Ease of use
It might take a while to get used to the new OS 6, but once you do it offers a fluid experience, plus the user can use the touch-screen, keyboard or a combination of the two to operate the handset.
The Torch has plenty to offer, including a top-notch camera, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, A-GPS, as well as a social networking integration app and BlackBerry maps if you need to find your way.
The Torch offers solid performance, but when multitasking, the fact that its processor is not as powerful as some similar devices will show through in a slightly sluggish performance.
You’ll get plenty of talking done, as the Torch will run for 340 minutes, allow you to play your favourite tunes for 30 hours, and survive for 336 hours on standby.
- The Torch boasts the best camera we’ve seen on any Blackberry, and its flash is particularly impressive.
- The Torch is not the most stylish device out there, and it’s pretty weighty, too.
- Look and Feel 3 Stars
- Ease of use 4 Stars
- Features 5 Stars
- Performance 4 Stars
- Battery life 4 Stars
Final verdict: 4 Stars
While the Torch offers a great set of features and some good social networking facilities, its design may not be stylish enough to convert fans of the Bold, Pearl and Curve.
