HTC 7 Pro 4 Stars

Look and feel

Not quite as weighty as most other slider phones with touch-screen, but a solid-enough device. The five-line QWERTY keyboard was a joy to use but the sliding mechanism was rather stiff.

Ease of use

Windows Phone 7 is a modern, refreshing OS and fun to use, and we also like the way in which the 3.6in WVGA screen comes out at an angle to make inputting that bit easier.

This is a powerful device with a choice of 8GB or 16GB storage, a five-megapixel camera and a 1GHz chip. It also enables the user to sync with lots of email accounts and Facebook.

The HTC 7 Pro offers a speedy and smooth experience and the contacts book offers a wealth of features such as social feeds and photos. It’s just a shame that there is no multitasking until the operating system gets an update.

Battery life

The battery will barely last a full day on a full charge – but that’s pretty much true of most of the more advanced smartphones.

Fresh, modern interface, five-line QWERTY keyboard, very responsive screen, contacts book has lots of features, and SkyDrive cloud backup service.
Stiff slider, no multitasking until the OS update, lack of reminder about new alerts after the initial alert.

Final verdict: 4 Stars

The QWERTY keyboard is the best we have seen, but email facilities are better on the more business-focused devices.
