HTC Incredible S 4 Stars
Look and feel
This well built handset has a matte black body, but the bump on the reverse sides makes it feel a little clunky in the hand. The SLC display offers clarity and brightness and we were impressed by the auto-rotating touch-icons.
Ease of use
HTC has added its own Sense interface, which offers ease of use and is very intuitive. A really helpful setup menu enables the user to get started straight away with email and social networks.
All the features you’d hope to see on a smartphone, including sat-nav, email and social networks. Multitasking works well thanks to the new 1GHz processor, and the eight-megapixel camera has the benefits of dual-LED flash. In fact it’s the most highly-specced camera of any of the HTC handsets.
The display proves both accurate and responsive, although if you’re a fast typist you may experience a bit of a lag on the virtual keyboard. An excellent experience when web browsing and social networking, and Gmail account holders will get the best offering of any Android phone.
A fully charged battery will offer plenty of time, with 254 hours on standby and 600 minutes of talktime. Music lovers can listen to tunes for 35 hours.
- Excellent social integration, top-quality video, HTC’s intuitive Sense interface, can be upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
- Camera is not that great for a top-end handset, lack of NFC support, omission of native task manager.
- Look and Feel 3 Stars
- Ease of use 4 Stars
- Features 4 Stars
- Performance 4 Stars
- Battery life 4 Stars
Final verdict: 4 Stars
The HTC Incredible S offers plenty of horsepower, and an intuitive user experience, along with that excellent SLCD display – but it may be overshadowed by the release of the new-generation superphones this summer.
