HTC Salsa 4 Stars

« Back to reviews HTC Salsa

Look and feel

The Salsa sports the now familiar aluminium unibody and has a retro style about it that you’ll either hate or love. Its standout feature is the Facebook button.

Ease of use

At the heart of the Salsa is Facebook integration, which works marvellously using the Facebook button. It runs on Android Gingerbread, has HTC’s excellent Sense interface, and is a breeze to both set up and use.

Features

You won’t be blown away by the five-megapixel camera, but it’s fine for snaps. This mid-range device gives all you’d expect in the way of email and web functions, and considering the pricetag, offers an LCD display with a decent resolution.

Performance

The onscreen keyboard offered a fast and responsive experience, and navigating around the handset was pretty simple. But that 800MHz processor slowed down the process and Flash video playback was disappointingly jerky.

Battery life

The Salsa offers very decent battery life – you’ll get more than a day from a full charge.

Pros:
The big three – Facebook, Twitter and Flickr – get fantastic integration; really simple to navigate.
Cons:
The screen is unable to live up to that on the iPhone 4 or Samsung Galaxy S II; the user experience is just too slow and while Flash video is supported it doesn’t play well.
Rating:
  • Look and Feel 4 Stars
  • Ease of use 4 Stars
  • Features 4 Stars
  • Performance 3 Stars
  • Battery life 4 Stars

Final verdict: 4 Stars

Anyone who is addicted to Facebook will love having the HTC Salsa in their pocket.
