HTC Wildfire S 3 Stars
Look and feel
Easy to slip in a pocket and with a reverse side made from Teflon, the HTC Wildfire is good looking but not stunning.
Ease of use
We found the screen responsive and the Sense UI from HTC is the best we’ve seen.
The Wildfire S has lots of connection options – HSDPA, Wi-Fi and A-GPS, as well as the LED-flash-sporting five-megapixel camera – a decent list of features for a smartphone at this price.
Apart from the camera, the handset’s features do a good job, but don’t expect speed from that 600MHz processor.
Battery life is all right – you’ll get 350 minutes of talktime (3G) and 570 hours (3G) of standby time from a full charge.
- Android 2.3 at an affordable price; neat size; great networking integration.
- The camera is a letdown and the processor makes the phone work slowly. While the phone does offer the latest Android 2.3, it’s not powerful enough to take full advantage of it.
- Look and Feel 3 Stars
- Ease of use 4 Stars
- Features 4 Stars
- Performance 3 Stars
- Battery life 3 Stars
Final verdict: 3 Stars
It’s a decent introduction to the affordable smartphone market, but it offers little to make it stand out.
