New LG touchscreen launched for under £100

Friday, 06 November 2009 — 10:19 AM

The Pop was announced in September

A recently announced touchscreen handset has been made available in the UK for under £100 on pay-as-you-go, it has emerged.

Those recycling mobile phones for cash may find they can now afford to get one of the latest models from LG, as the firm has revealed its GD510 Pop can now be picked up for £99.95.

It explained that buyers can expect the gadget - which is said to be the smallest touch-enabled phone to be made available with a three-inch screen - to feature a three-megapixel camera and integrated media player.

Dave Clarke, online marketing manager for Envirofone.com, highlighted the cash incentive for upgraders, commenting: "This is great news for consumers wanting a top-of-the-range phone without paying an arm and a leg."

"Even if your old phone is only worth £50, recycling with Envirofone would immediately halve the cost of your new touchscreen handset," he added.

The Pop's user interface is described as simple to get to grips with and LG added a number of social networking applications are also featured.

According to comments from the manufacturer's president and chief executive Dr Skott Ahn, the handset joins other desirable options like the Chocolate BL40.

"The LG GD510 delivers all the essentials in communication, multimedia and entertainment and comes in a compact form factor as well," he added.
