Recycling mobile could lead users to Google Maps benefits

Recycling a used mobile phone and investing in a smart new Android-powered handset may be the best way to enjoy the benefits of Google Maps this summer.

The Google Mobile Blog notes the navigation feature has now had six updates in six months, making it arguably better than ever.

Indeed, the latest upgrade was launched yesterday (July 26th), making it "even easier" to locate places and facilities.

According to the blog, Android-powered smartphones will now include an icon at the top of the screen for the new Google Maps.

"Press and drag it right onto your home screen to use it when you're looking for a restaurant, shoe store, movie theatre or any other type of local business," advises the online publication.

Some people could even decide to enjoy the technology on Google's own flagship device, the Nexus One.

Among the specifications of the model that may tempt people to invest in it are a 3.7-inch wide touchscreen and five-megapixel camera.

Jon Butler, creative brand manager at Envirofone, says: "With technology as good as this, finding your way round has never been easier. Why not trade in your old phone for cash to get yourself a new handset?"
