Have you ever noticed your iPhone battery logo turn yellow when your battery is low and wondered why? Maybe you’ve heard the term ‘low-power mode’ but don’t understand what it means. In this blog, we explain the term, including why it’s such a great feature. Let’s get into it.

Is lower power mode good for iPhone?
Low-power mode reduces the power your iPhone uses when the battery gets low. When your device gets to 20%, it will pop up with a notification asking if you want to use ‘low-power mode’, if you select Yes the battery icon will turn yellow. If you select No, the phone will continue using its normal battery charge, then will ask you one more time when you get to 10%. If your battery icon is yellow, the low-power mode is on and working.
When your iPhone is eventually charged up and above 75%, the low-power mode will turn itself off. You can also turn the feature on and off using the control centre.
What does low battery mode do on iPhone?
Low-power mode halts many features that usually take up the charge. Some include turning off 5G options, setting auto-lock to default 30 seconds, lowering your screen brightness and pausing emails from heading to your inbox. It’s supposed to be used in small doses, for example, for a few hours whilst you find a charging port, low-power mode isn’t to be used 24/7. If the feature stays on it won’t perform any of its functions, this will only happen when the phone is on below 20%.
If you don’t want to access low-power mode from your control centre, it can be accessed from Settings. Go to Settings and select Battery, you will see a switch to turn on or off Low-Power Mode.
