Battery health on your phone or tablet
Refurbished Pixel, OnePlus, Sony, Xiaomi and similar — what to expect from the battery and how to look after it.
What we test
We measure battery capacity on every device during refurbishment using diagnostic equipment. We sell devices with batteries at 80% or better of their original capacity. Anything under gets a new battery before listing.
What 80% means in practice: a full day of normal use, vs the 1.5 days you might have got brand-new.
How to check your phone’s battery health
Battery health visibility varies by brand:
- Pixel: Settings → Battery → Battery health (Pixel 8a and later).
- OnePlus: Settings → About device → Battery health (OxygenOS 14 and later).
- Xiaomi: Dial *#*#6485#*#* for a service screen showing battery info.
- Sony: Battery Care displays a health status under Settings → Battery.
- Older Android phones: use the free AccuBattery app from Play Store — it estimates capacity by tracking actual charge cycles over a few days.
Battery warranty
Batteries are covered for 6 months from delivery (the rest of the device is covered for 12). If you’re getting visibly poor battery life in the first 6 months, get in touch — we’ll diagnose under warranty.
After 6 months, batteries fall outside warranty. We can quote for a paid battery replacement.
Looking after your battery
- Look for an Optimised Charging or Battery Protect setting (most brands have one) — it caps overnight charge at 80% to slow wear.
- Don’t leave the phone in direct sunlight or a hot car.
- Use a charger that matches your phone’s fast-charging standard. Counterfeit fast chargers can damage the battery management chip.
- Keep the OS and any battery-related apps updated — battery management improves with most major updates.
