iPad battery health
Every refurbished iPad we sell has a battery in good condition. Here’s what to expect and how to look after it.
Battery on iPad vs iPhone
Unlike iPhone, iPad doesn’t show a Battery Health percentage in Settings. Apple’s view is that iPad battery degradation is slower and less of a daily concern — but we still measure it during refurbishment using diagnostic equipment and only sell iPads with healthy batteries.
Expect 10+ hours of usage from a full charge on a refurbished iPad in typical use. Older models or large screens (12.9-inch Pro) sit at the lower end of that range.
How to check your iPad’s battery condition
- Go to Settings → Battery to see usage over the last 24 hours and 10 days.
- Look for apps using significant background activity — they’re usually the cause of unexpected drain.
- For a deeper read-out, the Apple Support app (free on App Store) can run a battery diagnostic.
Battery warranty
Batteries are covered for 6 months from delivery (the rest of the iPad is covered for 12). If you’re getting clearly poor battery life in the first 6 months — under 4 hours of usage from full — get in touch under warranty.
After 6 months, batteries fall outside warranty. We can quote for a paid battery replacement.
Looking after your iPad’s battery
- Enable Optimised Battery Charging in Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Reduces wear from sitting at 100%.
- Don’t leave the iPad in direct sunlight or a hot car.
- Use a 20W+ USB-C adapter for fast charging. The supplied cable usually fits but the adapter is yours to provide.
- Keep iPadOS up to date — battery management improves with most major updates.
Putting the iPad away for months? Charge to ~50% before storing. Both 0% and 100% accelerate wear in long storage.
