iPad troubleshooting
Common iPad problems we see and what to try first.
Activation Lock at setup
If your iPad shows Activation Lock asking for someone else’s Apple ID, that’s on us. Don’t try to bypass it — email [email protected] with your order number. We’ll fix it remotely or arrange a free return.
“iPad Unavailable” / Security Lockout
Too many wrong passcodes trigger this. The fix erases the iPad and starts setup again.
- If Erase iPad appears on the lockout screen (iPadOS 15.2+), tap it and sign in with the Apple ID.
- Otherwise plug into a Mac/PC, enter recovery mode, and restore via Finder/iTunes.
Touchscreen not responding (or randomly tapping)
- Clean the screen and remove any screen protector.
- Force restart: press volume up, press volume down, hold the top button until the Apple logo appears.
- If the issue is in a specific area only, it may be hardware — get in touch under warranty.
Wi-Fi keeps dropping
- Forget the network: Settings → Wi-Fi → (i) → Forget, then rejoin.
- Reset network settings: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPad → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
- Restart the router.
Apple Pencil won’t pair
- Confirm your iPad supports your Pencil model — Apple has a compatibility chart.
- For 1st-gen Pencil: try a different port or another cable to confirm it’s charging.
- For 2nd-gen Pencil: clean the magnetic strip on both the iPad and the Pencil — fingerprints can interfere.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on. Forget the Pencil in Settings → Bluetooth and re-pair.
