What to Expect From the iPhone 17

Everything on this page is based on early reports and online speculation, so nothing should be taken as final until Apple makes an announcement. Still, it’s always exciting to explore what the next iPhone generation could bring.

Is the iPhone 17 Coming?
While unconfirmed, it’s almost certain that Apple will launch the iPhone 17 in September 2025. Apple rarely moves away from its September release cycle, with only the Covid-19 disruption in 2020 delaying things slightly.
Current predictions point to:
- Announcement: 9th September 2025 (rumoured)
- Pre-orders: Expected one week later
- Release date: Late September 2025

Will the iPhone 17 Have Major Changes?
Each new iPhone brings performance upgrades, but early leaks suggest the iPhone 17 may be a larger refresh than usual. Rumoured changes include:
- New A19 chipset for faster processing and improved efficiency
- Better battery performance and improved power management
- Stronger display materials designed to reduce scratches and potential cracks
- Updated camera system, potentially with a 24MP front camera
Apple is also rumoured to be launching an additional model: the iPhone 17 Air. This lighter, slimmer version may include fewer cameras and a redesigned camera layout that stretches horizontally across the top of the phone — making it easier to distinguish from the main iPhone 17 lineup.
Will the iPhone 17 Have a New Design?
Based on leaked prototypes and concept renders, the iPhone 17 may introduce a few design tweaks:
- A slightly larger screen — moving from 6.1" to around 6.3"
- Updated Dynamic Island visuals or functionality
- Aluminium framing for non-Pro models
- New colour options, which Apple often adds with each new series
It’s also rumoured that the camera placement will remain similar on standard models, but Pro and Air versions may see new arrangements as Apple experiments with design differentiation.
