Selling your MacBook
Trade in your old MacBook in a few minutes. Here’s the process end-to-end and what to do before you post it.
Get an instant quote
Head to sell-my-macbook, pick your model, year, RAM and storage, and answer a few condition questions. The price you see is guaranteed for 14 days from your order date.
Find the exact model and year in Apple menu → About This Mac. RAM and storage are listed there too — getting these right means the quote you see is the quote you get.
Prepare your MacBook before posting
- Back up everything to Time Machine, iCloud, or a cloud service. Once we erase it, the data is gone.
- Sign out of iCloud: System Settings → Apple ID → Sign Out. This switches off Find My Mac.
- Sign out of iMessage: Messages → Settings → iMessage → Sign Out.
- If using Apple Silicon: erase with System Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Erase All Content and Settings.
- If using Intel: boot into Recovery (Cmd+R during startup), open Disk Utility, erase the disk, then reinstall macOS.
If we receive a MacBook with Find My Mac still on, you’ll have 14 days to remove it remotely from icloud.com. After that we have to process at £0 — so please double-check.
Send it to us
Because MacBooks are higher-value, we use a fully tracked, insured courier service. We send packaging and a label — please use the original Apple box if you have it, or wrap the MacBook in bubble wrap inside a sturdy outer box.
We test it
Our team runs a full inspection within 1–2 working days: cosmetic check, screen test, keyboard, trackpad, ports, battery cycle count, storage health, and a full erase.
If everything matches what you described, we pay out. If we spot something different — a dent you didn’t mention, a cracked screen, battery near end-of-life — we’ll send a counter offer.
Get paid
- Bank transfer: next working day.
- PayPal: usually within 24 hours.
- Envirocash: instant credit toward a refurbished purchase, plus an extra 7%.
If something’s off
If you get a counter offer you don’t like:
- Accept — we pay the new amount.
- Decline — we send the MacBook back (you cover return postage).
- Counter-counter offer — reply with what you think is fair and we’ll review.
