Apple's September Event Highlights

Apple September Event Highlights:

Apple has finally held its September Event, showcasing the release of their new iPhone 15, the main highlight, along with other upcoming releases such as the Apple Watch Series 9.

So, in case you missed it, let’s take a look at some of the new features that are added to the products starting with the Apple Watch.

 

Apple Watch Series 9 Key Features:

To kick off the event, Apple introduced viewers to their new Apple Watch Series 9, containing multiple new features and benefits such as:

  • Advanced workout metric features.
  • Car crash detection features.
  • Redesigned on the inside, to give a huge boost in performance and capabilities.
  • 60% more transistors than the previous watch model.
  • Twice as fast processing compared to previous model.
  • 18-hour battery life.
  • NEW Siri+Health, which updates users on their sleep schedule, weight, medication and more.
  • Name drop with the new WatchOS10 update.
  • ‘Ping your iPhone’ which enables precision finding for iPhone, users can find their device from any distance or direction, even if the phone is in another room.
  • Retina display with 2000 nits – brighter display than previous model.
  • Powerful sim which introduces new capability, to tap, swipe or double click.
  • New introduced double tap, where user presses index finger and thumb together to complete actions like answering the phone.

 

iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Plus Key Features:

Focussing on the highlight of this event, Apple introduced the new iPhone 15, 15 Pro and 15 Plus devices.

The iPhone 15 will be available for pre-order on the 15th September and will be released on the 22nd September. 

  • Available in a range of colours including pink, yellow, green, blue and black.
  • NEW USB-C charging cables are coming to all the iPhone 15s, allowing the same cable to charge iPhone, Mac, iPad and the updated AirPods Pro.
  • New device has a much brighter display than previous model.
  • iPhone 15s new satellite connectivity means the device can be used to summon roadside assistance.
  • Ceramic Shield Front which is tougher than any previous smartphone glass.
  • Dynamic Island which bubbles up alerts and live activities, so you never miss them.
  • Features the same A16 bionic chip as the old iPhone 14 Pro model.
  • 48MP main camera with a quad-pixel sensor and 100 percent Focus Pixels for fast autofocus.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus:

  • The iPhone 15 will have a 6.1 inch screen display with the iPhone 15 Plus having a 6.7 inch screen display.
  • 2x telephoto availability to help frame the perfect portrait photography, users no longer need to specifically switch to portrait mode.
  • Up to 26 hours video playback on the iPhone 15 Plus and up to 20 hours video playback on the iPhone 15.

iPhone 15 Pro:

  • NEW action button, a fast track to users favourite features. Press and hold to launch any specific action
  • New titanium case design on the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro which means the phone will be 'lighter and thinner than ever before'.
  • iPhone 15 Pro offers multiple focal lengths to work with, helping capture high-resolution photos with a new level of detail and colour.
  • With the 120mm lens, users can enjoy 5x optical zoom.

 

Further Updates:

Along with the news of the Apple Watch Series 9 and iPhone 15 releases, Apple also mentioned some of their recent updates for example for Mac, which in June, introduced the Mac Studio and Mac Pro. They also mentioned their new upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air and furthermore unveiled the Apple Vision Pro, which is set to be released early next year.

 

Focussing on Sustainability:

Finally, Apple also mentioned their work towards sustainability, and how they are:

  • Planning to remove all plastic packaging from products by the end of next year
  • Phasing out all leather in iPhone cases
  • Shipping more products by ocean rather than air helping to improve one pollution.  
  • Using 75% recycled aluminium in the iPhone 15
  • 100% Recycled Cobalt in the battery
  • The logic board is made of 100% recycled copper foil

Overall, we are impressed with the new and improved iPhone but more so the progress that Apple have made to there commitment against climate change.
