iPhone troubleshooting
The most common iPhone problems we see — and exactly what to try first.
“Activation Lock” when setting up
If your iPhone shows an Activation Lock screen asking for someone else’s Apple ID, that’s on us — we’ve missed a step in the reset. Don’t try to bypass it.
Email [email protected] with your order number. We’ll remove the lock remotely or arrange a free return.
“iPhone Unavailable” or “Security Lockout”
This happens when too many wrong passcodes are entered. You’ll need to erase the phone and start setup again — the data is gone, sadly.
- If you see Erase iPhone on the lockout screen (iOS 15.2+), tap it and sign in with the Apple ID linked to the device.
- Otherwise plug the iPhone into a Mac or PC, put it into recovery mode, and restore via Finder/iTunes. Apple’s recovery guide has the button combos for each model.
Wi-Fi keeps dropping
- Turn Wi-Fi off and on from Control Centre.
- Forget the network: Settings → Wi-Fi → (i) → Forget, then rejoin.
- Reset network settings: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings. (You’ll need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords.)
- Restart the router.
If it’s still dropping on multiple networks, it could be a hardware issue — get in touch and we’ll diagnose under warranty.
Fast charging not working
You need a 20W+ USB-C power adapter and a USB-C to Lightning cable for fast charging on most iPhones. Older USB-A adapters won’t hit fast-charge speeds.
Cable damage is also a common cause — try a different cable before assuming the phone is at fault.
Refurbished iPhones don’t ship with a charger or cable as standard (in line with Apple’s current packaging). If you ordered without and now want one, our shop has them.
iPhone won’t turn on
- Plug it into a known-working charger for at least 30 minutes.
- Try a force restart: press volume up, press volume down, then hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.
- If the screen is black after 30+ minutes of charging and a force restart — email us with the order number and we’ll get a courier collection arranged under warranty.
