iPad Pro and iPad Air 2024 Review

Apple finally refreshed its iPad lineup during the 7 May “Let Loose” event, revealing updated versions of both the iPad Air and the iPad Pro. After two years without a new tablet release, excitement was already high — and by 15 May, the models were shipping out to customers worldwide.

In this review, we break down both new models, compare their features, and share early impressions to help you decide whether the 2024 iPad lineup deserves a place in your setup.

If you're weighing up Apple’s ecosystem against the competition, our Apple vs Samsung comparison is also worth a read.

iPad Air 2024

The 2024 iPad Air delivers the best balance between performance and affordability in Apple’s lineup. It’s perfect for students, office workers and anyone who wants MacBook-level power in a more portable form.

The new 12MP Ultra Wide landscape camera with Centre Stage makes video calls feel more natural, keeping everyone perfectly in frame. And the Liquid Retina display brings vibrant colours, strong contrast and excellent clarity — exactly what you’d expect from Apple.

Portability has also improved thanks to the compatibility with the Smart Folio cover, offering simple drop and scratch protection on the go.

The only drawback? The Air still doesn’t feature Face ID. Touch ID works fine, but anyone used to Face ID on their iPhone or higher-end iPads may feel the difference.

iPad Air 2024 Specs

  • Screen sizes: 11-inch and 13-inch
  • Apple Pencil Pro support: Yes
  • Colours: Silver, Space Black
  • Front camera: 12MP Ultra Wide (landscape)
  • Chipset: Apple M2
  • Battery life: Up to 10 hours

The iPad Air is a fantastic choice if you love the MacBook experience but want something lighter and easier to handle. And if cost is a priority, you’ll find great value options by exploring Envirofone’s range of refurbished iPads.

iPad Pro 2024

The device most fans were waiting for — the 2024 iPad Pro — has already turned heads for being the thinnest product Apple has ever made. With its new Ultra Retina XDR OLED display and productivity-focused features, it’s easily Apple’s most advanced tablet yet.

The updated True Tone flash makes scanning documents faster and clearer, while the new display technology gives a deeper, richer viewing experience suitable for professional creatives and power users.

Like the Air, it also works seamlessly with the new Smart Folio, keeping the ultrathin design protected without adding bulk.

The biggest downside so far is the price. Starting at $999, the iPad Pro now sits directly alongside the MacBook Air — a comparison Apple fans can’t ignore. And considering refurbished MacBooks and older iPad Pro models are available for significantly less through places like our own refurbished iPad selection, the value question becomes a real talking point.

iPad Pro 2024 Specs

  • Screen sizes: 11-inch and 13-inch
  • Apple Pencil Pro support: Yes
  • Colours: Silver, Space Black
  • Back camera: 12MP (improved low-light performance)
  • Chipset: Apple M4
  • Battery life: Up to 15 hours

The iPad Pro is a powerhouse designed for artists, editors, designers and anyone who wants a tablet that can replace a laptop. But for casual users, the Air may offer better value — especially when you consider the broader refurbished market.
